After two days of meetings in Lima, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum was closing with a spirit of detente that many fear the annual summit may not see again for the next four years.

During a one-on-one meeting with Peru’s President Dina Boluarte, Biden thanked her for the country’s efforts to counter drug trafficking and noted the $65 million the U.S. is giving Peru over the next five years intended to assist in that effort.
