Residents in Orange County are dealing with an extended state of emergency due to the ongoing Jennings Creek wildfire​.

Officials say residents north of 42 Edgemere may evacuate by their personal vehicles. Residents from 32 to 42 Edgemere were provided transportation out by a Warwick Dial-a-Bus.

WARWICK — A state parks worker was killed Saturday while responding to a large wildfire in Orange County that originated across the border in New Jersey.

Fire crews are still fighting the Jennings Creek wildfire, which has burned 5,304 acres as of Sunday evening. Progress was made throughout the day, with over 60,000 gallons of water dropped onto the hot ground via helicopters.
